Description
Perhaps built as early as the 1820s, this small adobe is located in the middle of the Presidio headquarters block. It was originally owned by the family of Santiago de la Cruz Pico, founder of the prominent Pico clan of California. He had served as a soldier at the Santa Barbara Presidio. His grandson, Buenaventura, and Anita Cordero de Pico lived in the house later in the 19th century. The Santa Barbara Trust for Historic Preservation acquired the building in 1976, deeding it to the State of California several years later.
